The team you ll be joining supports the breadth of technologies including providing support, developing and advancing automation and monitoring capabilities, and improving work processes to gain efficiencies across the digital platforms. What you will get to do: In the first month get acclimated with the technologies and environments in use at Northwestern Mutual. Access a broad range of technologies through monitoring, event response and remediation of issues to gain breadth and depth of the technologies assigned.
Within two months While working with ETCC team members, be able to pick up and work on any existing technology issues and contribute directly to infrastructure and application discussions to solve complex technology problems. Understand the working relationships between infrastructure, and applications, that deliver the client experience.
Within three months - While working with other engineers on the Infrastructure & Operations teams, engage in modifying automation and monitoring to improve the capabilities of the ETCC. Contribute to the team at your full capacity.
Who we are looking for: Fast learner and self-starter. The people you will work with are incredibly kind, talented, and extremely willing to share knowledge and a helping hand, but you have to be willing to take ownership of the outlined goals and make things happen.
Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision, yet actively interact with other team members in person or over the Internet (chat, videoconference, email).
Work collaboratively on creative solutions with product owners and engineers.
Bring new ideas and new ways of solving problems to the team.
Passionate about learning new technologies and developing additional skills.
Education/Professional Experience: Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree in Computer Science or a related field
2 to 4 years of support and engineering experience in infrastructure and applications
Experienced with the following technologies: DB2 Database Administration
SQL Database Administration
Network Attached Storage & Storage Area Networks,
Windows, UNIX & Linux servers, IBM Power, IBM Pure and Nutanix platforms,
Data Center Facilities
Full Stack Experience a plus
Experience utilizing the following tools: Scripting and Automation
Application and Infrastructure Monitoring tools
Experience using the following methodologies: Scrum, Agile, SAFe, Kanban
