Data Base Administrator
Implements and maintains smooth operation and physical design of databases. Conducts performance tuning of indexes and databases in general. Reviews database design and integration of systems, provides backup recovery and makes recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements. Maintains security and integrity controls. Formulates policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management, and monitors transaction activity and utilization. May develop stored procedures. Skills Preferred Experience Required Extensive experience with Oracle 12c Architecture and database infrastructure design Extensive experience with Solaris and Linux Operating Systems Experience automating, scripting and streamlining processes for efficiency and accuracy – Unix shell scripting using ksh or bash desirable Ideal candidate should have extensive experience in the art of performance tuning, utilizing OEM or third party tools to finely tune objects and partitions, advanced stats gathering as well as comprehensive understanding of Oracle 12c optimizer behavior and Oracle 12c new features, etc.
Extensive experience with capacity planning, maintenance, and optimization of the database environments Extensive understanding of high-availability solutions – RAC and Maximum Availability Architecture Comprehensive understanding of Oracle backup methodologies, their implementation via GUI as well as scripts. Experience with setup and scheduling of RMAN backups as well as successful database restores Experience with implementation and maintenance of DR environments using multiple technologies such as Data Guard and Storage Replication o Ability and experience with the development of processes and procedures to standardize Database installations and configuration Strong understanding of hardware and infrastructure including but not limited to the OS, storage and networks o Ability to analyze and troubleshoot Oracle server related issues.
Experience with the development of architectural and functional process diagrams for Oracle database services Excellent communication, presentation, and customer relationship skills Ability to work on unusually complex technical problems and provide solutions that are highly innovative and ingenious Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment “Can-do” attitude, proactive and resourceful.
Experience Preferred Experience in disk array storage solutions – preferably NetApp o Experience in Backup / Recovery solutions – preferably CommVault Education Required 21 Years with HS 17 Years with AA 15 Years with BS 13 Years with MS 10 Years with PhD Education Preferred Oracle OCP or OCM Certification
