Applications Database Administrator (DBA) II

Old Dominion Freight Line has an opening for an Applications Database Administrator. The duties include plan, coordinate, develop, implement and support database solutions, including database definition, structure, replication strategies, documentation, requirements, guidelines and security. Troubleshoot technical issues related to Oracle database development and assist less experienced Oracle Database Administrators with technical issues and questions.
Collaborate with development teams to identify data requirements and create logical data models
Develop logical and physical data models in ER/Studio
Support the development of physical data models in Oracle Database and IBM DB2 database technologies
Create, implement and maintain all database objects; tables, indexes, views, sequences.
Write database packages, SQL procedures, functions and triggers as required
Perform database tuning and performance monitoring including indexing, reorganizations and partitioning
Perform database troubleshooting as needed
Implement and enforce user access security models
Implement and maintain the database design
Creation and review of database standards to ensure that all application design and code is produced with proper integrity, security and performance
Guide and mentor less experienced Oracle DBAâ€™s
Facilitation of issues with vendors for technical support
Rotate weekly on-call responsibilities
Bachelorâ€™s Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent education and experience
4 years of experience Oracle Database development with 11gR2 and/or 12c
Solid understanding of Oracle Database Features and Technologies
Experience with Oracle database tuning, performance monitoring and query tuning
2 years of experience using SQL, SQL Plus and PL/SQL
Solid understanding of Oracle Real Application Cluster (RAC) Databases
Solid understanding of Oracle Data Guard and Active Data Guard
Strong problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Experience with DevOps concepts and practices
Experience with ER/Studio for Data Modeling
Experience with Oracle Engineered Database Systems (Oracle Database Appliance, Oracle Exadata)
Experience with DB2 for IBM i or LUW
Experience with Solaris and/or Linux
Experience with DBmaestro for Database Release Automation and Management
