We’re looking for an experienced Database Application Developer
who has exceptionally strong expertise with Oracle in order to design and implement efficient large OLTP/OLAP databases for our risk management products. The candidate must work inside the context of software application and must understand the overall application development process and the application architecture. The candidate should be adept at understanding the interactions between our applications and databases and is able to recommend and design a sound application persistence layer that performs and scalable.
The candidate must be able to clearly demonstrate hands-on experience on analyzing and performance tuning large/complex Oracle databases. The candidate must demonstrate deep understanding and knowledge of Oracle database architecture and its internal workings. The ideal candidate must have the ability to thrive in a work environment that is highly collaborative and fast paced.
Responsibilities:
Participate in domain modeling, analyze domain models, build logical data models, and convert a logical data model to an efficient physical data model
Recommend and implement performance enhancements in the application persistent layer and the database, e.g. indexing, database physical characteristics like PCTFREE, PCTUSED, block size, etc. based on the requirement from applications
Analyze production database performance issues, perform query tuning and implement required enhancements
Research and design data mart/data warehouse for the analytic/reporting needs from our applications
Skill Requirements:
5 years of experience in the database application field
Thorough knowledge of Oracle database architecture and how everything works internally
Thorough knowledge and strong expertise of relational database modeling and implementations
Excellent skills in writing efficient queries to solve complex business issues.
Able to employ Oracle database diagnostic tools to collect performance data, analyze the results, localize the issue, and then recommend the fixes.
Strong expertise with OLAP
Knowledge and experience in leveraging other Oracle products, e.g. Replication, Logging/Auditing, RAC, etc.
Proven experience in implementing Data Mart/Data Warehouse
Good communication skills in both writing and verbal
Must be able to thrive in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment
SQL Server database knowledge is a plus.
Microsoft .net platform knowledge is a plus.
