Database Performance Tuning; Application Performance Tuning
Backup and Recovery, Problem Determination / Problem Resolution
High-Availability using Data Sharing in a Parallel Sysplex environment
Logical Data Modeling, Physical Database Design
Good Oral and Written Communication Skills
Ability to work alone or with team
Job Qualifications
Required:
5 years full life-cycle DB2 z/OS database administration
5 years full life-cycle IDMS database administration
5 years DB2 z/OS subsystem administration (including
maintenance and upgrades)
5 years managing highly available mission critical systems
Full life-cycle administration of IBM DB2 Administration Tool Suite
Relational Data Modeling, Logical Database Design and Physical Database Design
Experience with DB2 Subsystem Tuning and Application Performance Tuning
Preferred:
Experience supporting ADABAS helpful, but not required
Experience supporting COBOL, Assembler, Natural, and JAVA
Project Management
Ability to train and mentor other Database Administrators in IDMS and DB2 z/OS
Job Responsibilities
Candidate will be responsible for maintaining all aspects of Database Management Systems including but not restricted t
Full life-cycle administration of IDMS and DB2 z/OS subsystems including performing systems programming tasks related to both IDMS and DB2 z/OS environments, including system level performance tuning
Support of DB2 z/OS Data Sharing in Parallel Sysplex environment
Administration of IBM DB2 Administration Tool Suite
Administration of IDMS, including Dictionary, ADSO, OCF, BCF, OLQ, SQL.
Administration of ADABAS, Natural and other SoftwareAG products
Creation of databases and database objects like tables, indexes, views, and stored procedures
Ensuring that NS Computer Security Policies are followed and violations reported
Monitoring database performance, performing problem determination and problem resolution and working with programmers and vendors to achieve and implement solutions
Responsible for designing, implementing and testing disaster recovery procedures and processes on all 3 platforms (IDMS, DB2 z/OS, and Adabas)
Ensuring compliance with naming standards
Participating as a team member in projects that require outages, upgrades and patches to databases
Producing documentation and procedures regarding the proper use and operation of the DBMS
Capacity Planning
Must be available to handle 24 x 7 on call duties on a rotating basis

Process:
This is a
contract-to-permanent
position opportunity with an immediate start date. In addition to the interview process, contractor candidates must participate in an HR evaluation session to determine future permanent employment eligibility. US citizenship or Green Card is required.

Upon successful and satisfactory performance of duties the candidate will be converted to a full-time position. Duration of contract trial period is expected to last between 3 and 5 months.
