To accomplish this task, close coordination with the users and discussing security features of the database being used by the users must be done. The users are key persons in developing security system that is suitable to their needs and at the same time DBAs can fully understand the type of information vital for the users. Another group of people that DBAs must interact with on a regular basis are the developers. The development team assists in the overall database design and as such DBAs are encouraged to have an active participation in the development of new designs. Voicing out your opinions and points of view will be beneficial not only for the development team but for the company as a whole since they will be saving money and time by making sound and effective designs. DBAs must show to the developers how to use and take advantage of the features of a server in making good designs. For companies that are operating on a 24/7 schedule, DBAs must make sure that database servers are online and protected at all costs. As DBA you must be prepared to do troubleshooting once the server goes down and perform some maintenance and upgrades.



The work of a DBA is very important in any organization especially those who are relying so much on computers for the smooth operation of their organization. It is very important that in order to become a good DBA, continuous practice and study of your mission-critical procedures and constant study of SQL server and database tools should be done. Technology changes every minute thus learning should be a never-ending process to be successful in your field.
