In this age of computer-run offices and companies, the work of system administrator is essential. Any business that has a network of computers will need to hire one system administrator to maintain a computer system running at maximum performance and efficiency.

A person who wants to become a system administrator will probably require a Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field. He will also need at least two years of experience with computer systems, before being promoted to a position of system administrator. A system administrator needs a fairly extensive knowledge of various computer operations to be effective. He must understand how to mainframe server and know how to keep the computer system; install software and patches, troubleshoot; maintain data files; control the system and perform system backup and recovery. In short, the system administrator must know how to do almost everything the system needs for maintenance.



The job description of a system administrator, says that some 'creativity is needed, but this is not necessarily the case. Often, the job requires a lot of creative thinking in order to solve a problem quickly.
